SC-741 Ji-sugi Sendan

Japan Forest Series - Crafted from Japanese Tone Woods -

A special edition model crafted by Takumi Morinaka, one of Japan’s leading acoustic guitar luthiers, designed to explore the potential of domestically sourced Japanese tonewoods.

The top is made from Jisugi—local Japanese cedar from Miyazaki Prefecture—while the sides and back use Sendan (Japanese bead tree). Both are rare woods nurtured by Japan’s natural environment, each bringing its own unique character to create a distinctive and expressive tone.
This guitar is characterized by the warmth, delicate nuances, and rich overtones unique to domestic woods. Thanks to luthier Morinaka's exceptional skill and sensibility, it boasts high playability that responds to all playing styles.

About Sendan (Japanese Bead Tree)

Historically known as Afuchi, Sendan appears in classical Japanese literature such as the Manyoshu and The Pillow Book, attesting to its long-standing cultural significance. For this instrument, carefully selected Sendan wood sourced from Miyazaki Prefecture in Kyushu is used for the body.
Lightweight yet offering just the right balance of hardness and flexibility, Sendan is characterized by its soft, delicate response in the mid-to-high range, along with a rich overtone profile.
Arpeggios ring out with clear, pure notes, while chord strumming produces a gentle tone with a well-defined contour—making Sendan a truly ideal domestic tonewood.
